Vmware player version 2.5 64 bit rpm

I have been running the Player 2.04 without incident but I tried to upgrade to the new 2.5.
I did what I always do uninstall the previous rpm in YaST and install the new one. That went without a hitch. I then tried to configure the player with open a terminal su to root cd to /usr/bin than vmware-config.pl.
I get command not found.
So I do a ls of /usr/bin and inded there is no vmware-config.pl. I go to VMWares website and read up on 2.5 installation and it suggest running vmware-config.pl after just su to root. I still get command not found. I reinstall 2.04 it runs without issue from the config command.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I tried again with the rpm -Uhv VMware-Player-2.5.0-118166.x86_64.rpm install method. this got it working though I still am not sure where the vmware-config.pl is. I hate it when they change things

Well as an update to VMware things. I am trying out their Workstation 6.5. It also requires you to load the rpm with rpm -Uhv VMpackagename.rpm command. it was interesting that vmware-config.pl is no longer used. I suspect this will catch a lot of folks used to the old method of install and reconfigure.

After upgrading my kernel this morning, I wondered if I would have to reinstall the vmware rpm. However when attempting to run the Workstation after the reboot it started up a configuration program, asked for root PW and then reset its configuration. Pretty easy actually.

I have created a VM of SUSE 11 with KDE 4 and will use it to upgrade to 11.1 when it comes out. I hope that KDE 4 will be better with the SUSE upgrade. Since I am leaving this Edition totally stock, I will see how it handles upgrade and not a reinstall.

Just a further note on VMware. With 6.5 you can now run DirectX 9 in VM's and play several Windows games, but (you just knew there was Caveat didn't you) it will only work on Windows 2000 and XP. They do not support 3D for the Win 9X OS's. Still it is nice to see this being added for those that wish to get away from Dual boot setups.
